History of our Church

The foundation stone of the Church  was put in place on the 16th August 1844. There was a pause in the building of the Church during the worst years of the famine, but the Church was completed by 1854. Both Fr Butler and Aylward looked after the completion of the building. In this year, Pope Pius IX proclaimed the Dogma of The Immaculate Conception and the Church was dedicated to Our Lady on its completion.
